A Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind is contact that people initiate on purpose instead of waiting for it. The term and the practice come from Dr. Steven Greer and CSETI (early 1990s). What follows is a plain-language summary in our own words.

I have sat outside, run the whole protocol, and had nothing come back. I built this console anyway, because I do not think one person's empty night settles anything. It might work for you. It might work for somebody in a country I will never visit, on a night I will never hear about.

That is why every trip lands on a public board. We are not each doing this alone in the dark. If enough of us stand outside on the same steps, on purpose, and one of us gets something real, that counts for far more than anything I could turn up by myself. Our own governments have spent seventy years telling us there was nothing to see while they quietly kept the files. Whatever the truth is, they were never going to be the ones to hand it over. So we go and look for ourselves.

No promises and no claims. Go outside, breathe, be polite, and see what happens.

People assume that if something were flying around up there, a big enough telescope would have photographed it by now. That turns out to be a much weaker argument than it sounds, and not for the reason most people give. It is not about the size of the mirror.

Something crossing the sky near the speed of light arrives almost with its own light: from a light-year out at 99% of c you get 3.7 days of warning, and at 99.9% under nine hours. It sweeps 45 degrees per second at the Moon's distance, so it crosses Hubble's whole field in about a thousandth of a second and leaves a faint streak rather than a picture. And the Doppler shift moves it out of visible light altogether: reflected light off something inbound at 99% of c is boosted around 199 times, so green light arrives as an X-ray. An optical telescope is simply blind to it. Radar is worse.

What you would actually catch is the wake, not the hull. Anything moving that fast through interstellar hydrogen is hitting protons at billions of electron-volts, dumping megawatts per square metre and throwing off gamma rays. It would look like a moving gamma-ray source with a bow shock, which is a job for Fermi or CTA, not for Hubble.

None of that is evidence that anything is out there. It only means the absence of a photograph is close to worthless as an argument. We are not looking with the right instruments, in the right band, on the right timescale.

Made by a human of this world. Not of a country. At the distance this console is trying to speak across, governments and boundaries and borders mean nothing at all, and they mean nothing here either. That is why it speaks ten languages, and why a trip filed from anywhere lands on the same board as everyone else's.

One person built this and gave it away. Nothing in it is sold, there are no ads, nothing is tracked, no account is asked for, and nobody paid for any of it. If it is worth something to you, the price is going outside and trying it.

It was written with the help of premium AI models. That will probably change. I expect to move the work onto AI running locally on my own machines, most likely open-source Chinese models, because they match what I actually need and what my hardware can do. The console will not change when that happens. The difference is that the tools behind it will be ones anybody can download and run for themselves, which feels like the right way for something like this to be made.

The teal dots are public witness reports to the National UFO Reporting Center (nuforc.org) that describe something on, over, into or out of the water: 450 of them, picked from about 80,000 public reports by those words. A report is a report; nothing here is verified. The excerpts are the witnesses' own words, shortened. Habitable worlds come from the NASA Exoplanet Archive.

The cyan squares on the globe are the U.S. Department of War's released UAP records (PURSUE, war.gov/ufo, releases from May 2026 on): unresolved cases the government could not explain, with the document, video or image each one points to. Places are as the release index gives them, mostly region-level. Government records, public domain; the app only indexes them.

The star systems, the beings and the unit in the Triangle come from what people have claimed: Bob Lazar (1989 onward), John Lear (1987–90), later lists that grew out of Lear's circle, and an anonymous 2023 poster on /x/. Each line on the tube says who said it. Lazar and Lear both name only Zeta Reticuli; the rest is later material. The astronomy (distances, star types) is real. Nothing here is presented as fact.

LUNA and DEEP OCEAN run the same steps from a closer origin (UAP / USO). BERMUDA runs the trigger sequence: the Triangle, the places we detonated, the flash (close your eyes; the screen becomes the light of a real shot, measured from the film), the arsenal, then the unit rises.

At exactly the speed of light an object arrives together with its own light: zero warning. Just below it, the warning time is the distance divided by c, times (1/β − 1). From one light-year out that is 3.7 days at 0.99c, 8.8 hours at 0.999c, and 41 days at 0.9c. So the scenario where somebody spots it early and points a telescope at it does not exist. You only ever see it during or after the pass.

Angular rate is c divided by distance. At the Moon's distance that is 45 degrees per second. Hubble's ACS has a 3 arcminute field, so the object is across it in 1.1 milliseconds, and each 0.05 arcsecond pixel gets about 310 nanoseconds of exposure.

Run the photons for a 100 m hull at 50% albedo at lunar distance, which would be about magnitude +10 if it held still: roughly 3.5 million photons per second into a 2.4 m mirror, times 310 ns, is about one photon per pixel. The trail covers some 3,600 pixels, so around 2,000 electrons total against read noise of about 240 electrons — a matched-filter signal-to-noise near 8. Detectable as a streak, if you already knew where to look and were filtering for tracks. That is Rubin's job, not Hubble's.

The counter-intuitive part: trailing loss turns the usual inverse-square law into an inverse-linear one. Farther away means slower angular motion means longer dwell per pixel. Distance hurts you half as fast as instinct says.

Reflected light off an inbound object gets a double Doppler boost: (1+β)/(1−β), which at 0.99c is 199 times. Green light at 500 nm arrives at 2.5 nm, around 500 electron-volts. Your optical telescope sees nothing; you wanted Chandra, XMM or NuSTAR. The reflection is also beamed into a cone about 8 degrees wide, so off-axis there is nothing at all. On the way out the same effect dims it by 11.5 magnitudes and drags it to about 7 micrometres — JWST's band, at hopeless flux.

Radar fails harder. A 10 GHz X-band ping returns near 2 terahertz. No receiver is listening there, and the target has left long before the round trip finishes.

At a Lorentz factor of 10 through one proton per cubic centimetre, the craft sees a proton flux around 3×10¹⁵ per square metre per second at 8.4 GeV each: roughly 4 megawatts per square metre of frontal area, so 400 MW across a 100 m² cross-section. 8.4 GeV is well over the pion threshold, and neutral pions decay to gamma rays.

So it is a moving GeV gamma-ray point source with a bow shock, beamed forward. Fermi-LAT and CTA territory. And any real relativistic drive is far brighter than the hull it is pushing — which is exactly the channel serious SETI proposals have argued for.

Ballistic FTL: it would appear suddenly at closest approach and then split into two images running in opposite directions along its track, preceded by a light boom. Unmistakable. Nothing in the sky does this.

A warp bubble is locally subluminal, so no image doubling. Its collapse would ring a short, very high frequency gravitational-wave burst — above LIGO's band, needing detectors nobody has funded. And a bubble sweeps up interstellar particles and dumps them forward on arrival, so the arrival would read as a gamma-ray burst rather than a landing.

VLBI images show jet knots in M87 and 3C 279 moving at an apparent 5 to 20 times light speed. That is pure light-travel-time projection, a solved and frankly boring problem. Resolving apparent superluminal motion is not the hard part. The real thing is.

It does not show that anything is out there. It shows that "no telescope has ever photographed one" is a far weaker argument than it is usually made to carry. Wrong instruments, wrong band, wrong timescale. Absence of evidence, from instruments that were never built to look for this, is close to no evidence at all.

One caveat stated plainly: section 04 assumes a compact solid craft with an ordinary drive. A craft decelerating on a magnetic sail would instead be a bright synchrotron source — arguably the loudest signature of all, because it is deliberately coupling to the interstellar medium.

Because the ordering is the surprising part. If you asked most people to draw a UFO they would draw a saucer or a black triangle. This dataset, if it is real, says the overwhelming majority were plain spheres, and that triangles were the rarest thing in it. That is the kind of detail that is inconvenient to invent, which is not the same as evidence that it is true.
